The Santé Story

Santé first opened its doors in 2007 as a direct selling company. That same year, our research team discovered the powerful properties of barley grass and the Santé Barley brand was born. Despite challenges, Santé International carried on, firmly believing in our product and direct selling’s capacity to help people live better lives.

FDA Acknowledges the Benefits of Barley.

In a rare move, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed producers of barley-based products to state a claim that these products may help reduce the risk of heart disease.

At this time, barley-based products had yet to fully penetrate the Philippine market. Spotting an opportunity in the local market, Santé International began developing a selection of everyday barley-based products based on the research team’s key findings on its benefits and powerful properties.

Today, with Santé Barley as its flagship brand, Santé has dominated the Philippine market with its certified organic barley grass that’s grown and harvested in New Zealand. Santé has also expanded its offerings to include a fitness and rehabilitation center with its Santé Fitness Lab; and an array of natural products that are true to the company’s thrust in promoting a healthy lifestyle. Headquartered in the Philippines, Santé has expanded globally and has offices in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, UAE, Qatar, Nigeria, and Cyprus.

Santé was awarded two years in a row as part of the Circle of Excellence for the SME Company of the Year 2019 and 2020 of the distinguished Asia CEO Awards. This category was conferred to small- and medium-scale businesses that achieved important success, demonstrating excellence in leadership, financial contribution, global recognition, pioneering achievements and social causes.

Also by the Asia CEO Awards, Santé’s Chief Executive Officer Joey Marcelo, meanwhile, was feted as among the Circle of Excellence finalists for the Entrepreneurs of the Year 2019.

Milestones

2007

A group of veteran direct selling professionals formed Santé International with the goal of offering pure organic barley-based health and wellness products. The distribution of these products would present opportunities to a network of business owners.

2007

The Santé Barley brand was launched in the Philippine market.

2007

Negotiations commenced with the farmers of the Canterbury Plains of New Zealand so that they would become the company’s regular source of barley grass.

2007

Information technology company Big League Enterprise was established to oversee and manage the online accounts of Santé Barley product distributors. The system monitors the distributors' commissions and payouts, among others.

2008

The partnership between Santé International and BioGro-certified New Zealand farms was successfully sealed.

2009-2010

As personal testimonies on the health benefits of Santé Barley flooded in, sales skyrocketed. Santé International scrambled to keep up with the demand while branches tripled in number within a year. Business owners’ earnings multiplied.

2011

Santé International grew rapidly: from hundreds of kilos of barley grass per year, we began to import 50 tons, or around 50,000 kilos, of barley grass a year.

2001

We expanded our product line to include Fusion Coffee (part of Santé's Health Beverage and Snack Series) and launched the Bath & Body and Intimate Care Series with the C'est Bon anti-aging soap.

2011

We welcomed Filipino television personality Kim Atienza as a Santé Barley product ambassador.

2012

In line with the company's mission to help people lead healthier lives, CEO Joey Marcelo, a triathlon enthusiast, formed the company’s own triathlon team: the Santé Barley Triteam .

2012

Choco Barley was added to the Health Beverage and Snack series.

2012

Santé International’s rapid growth continued as demand for Santé Barley products in the Philippines and abroad increased.

2013

Offering multiple health benefits, Green Tea L-Carnitine was launched under the Health Beverage and Snack Series.

2013

The building and opening of key offices for the business started: Construction of Santé's Head Office and the Santé IMPACT System (SImS), a combined sports rehab and fitness center, began at Eton Cyberpod in Ortigas.

2014

A collaboration with a Singaporean company helped build and define the Santé brand. The Santé Barley logo was standardized, values and mission statement were formalized.

2014

Integrative medicine clinic Santé Wellness Centre, a subsidiary of Santé, was established to provide holistic and alternative approaches to healing.

2015

Santé Impact System (SlmS) was officially launched as part of Santé Health & Fitness.

2015

The company formally launched FibrEnergy, a powdered snack with barley, chia, and oats mix. With the growing demand, Santé constructed its second regional in Cebu City, to cater to its growing community of business owners and product users.

2015

With an eye on the global market, Santé joined the premier Direct Selling Mastermind Event, a prestigious annual direct selling and network marketing conference in the United States.

2016

Santé entered the UAE market. Through its branches in the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah, we offered our organic wellness products and a rewarding business opportunity for Filipinos and UAE locals.

2016

Santé entered the UAE market. Through its aSanté CEO, Joey Marcelo, was invited to speak at the esteemed Mastermind Event in the USA. branches in the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah, we offered our organic wellness products and a rewarding business opportunity for Filipinos and UAE locals.

2017

Ten years since it was established, Santé has grown to 100 branches and over 100,000 registered business owners in the Philippines, the UAE, Hong Kong, and Nigeria. A soft launch of its Hong Kong and Singapore branches were held.

2017

Through our partnership with Ayala Land, the 600 square-meter Santé Fitness Lab at Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite was born.

2017

Santé CEO Joey Marcelo was invited to the Mastermind Event in the USA as a panelist.

We launched Santé in Singapore, Nigeria, Bahrain, Qatar and Cyprus.
